Lake Whakamaru Camp Photos

Lake Whakamaru Christian Camp Overview

On the 13th of December 2011 Room 3, Matatoki School went camping at Lake Whakamaru Christian Camp.
There were four dorms that the children slept in but the adults all got separate cabins! :-(
In Dorm One was Brooke, Lily and Sam. In Dorm Two was Bryanna, Mikayla, Jaimee and Tayla.
In Dorm Two was Sebastian, Kyron, Brayden, Matt, Ethan and Cameron. In Dorm Four was Ricky, Harry, Micky and Josh. The reason all the adults got separate cabins was because we were the only school there!
There was a friendly staff of five and they supplied us with food, activities and a great time!
I think that everyone who went had an awesome time and have had great new experiences!

Rockwall Climbing at Camp

On the 2nd day of camp, our whole class was split into two groups. One group had to go to a rock climbing wall. It was a great team building experience. At least 3 quarters of our group went to the 2nd height. The brave ones went up to the very top. Ricky, Lily, Matty and Harry were the brave, courageous ones. It was a great time.

Taupo Hot Pools

On the 15th of December Room Three  went to Taupo hot pools. It was a freaking cold day so we went to warm up. The hydro-slide was big and fun, all of room three went on at least once. The hot pools were hot and relaxing, it was a awesome day. A guy came up to some of us Matatoki girls and did the "Sexy and I know it" dance and he was in colourful speedos.  "EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!"

Room Three Camp Burma Trail

On the 13th of December we went on camp and we did the Burma Trail. It was pitch black and we had no idea where were going people would jump out at you from no where making you scream your head off. Most of the people got lost and they went around the track twice. Matt, Lily and Sam got lost and they kept on going around the course. After a while they found a parent and they took them to the finish. On the way back we were walking when Lily and Sam were hiding in the bush and they went "Boo" Matt got a major fright.

The Three Little Pigs Court Case Play

Well done to all of the characters in the whole school item at the start of Prizegiving last Thursday. Well done The Big Bad Wolf, The Two Narrators, The Third Little Pig, The Little Piglets, The Little Wolfs, The doughnut eating Security Guards, Mother Pig, The Judge and The Pig Lawyer. It was a wonderful tale where the 'Big Bad Wolf' is taken to court for killing and eating the First and Second Little Pigs it has Two dances and a super silly punch line. The Wolf goes free due to a hung Jury and lives happily ever after. The End or is it?

It was an overall great play and a good family thriller and deserves a 10 out of 10.

Matatoki Prize giving

~*Prize Giving*~

At the end of every year Matatoki school presents an annual prize giving that consists of room items, songs, christmas carols and last but not least the awards of either accademic or athletic achievements. Prize giving is a time to comemerate the end of the year, the achievements and to round off the year with a high. This year we worked very hard to create a whole school play which was a hit. It was a very succesful night and all students and parents enjoyed them selves, it was a fantastic way to end the year.

Week Six Update

Hi Everyone

We have had another very busy week. We have been working hard on our end of year item and prize giving and it is coming along well. We only have one week to go! Our costumes are almost all sorted except for the last few bits and pieces. This week in class was our end of year testing week. We had reading, mathematics and writing tests to complete! We loved it (not)! We have also been making sure that our portfolios are all up to date ready to go home on Thursday with our end of year reports! Also this week we started swimming.. not many of us have been going because it is still a little too cold! Next week is going to be very hectic because we have our final dress rehearsal practices, year 8 dinner and our play and prize giving!

Have a great weekend!

Week Five Update

This week we picked animals that we have to research over the next few weeks. We have all been given a check list so we all know what to do. We also have been practising our end of year item,it has been going well, but we can not give away too much information! This week we all painted the back drop for the play. In maths we have been working on percentages and statistics and we all know it is hard but fun at the same time. On Wednesday Mr Andrews taught us, we did some work on division and did some activities on poetry. On Thursday the year 8 students that are leaving us next year went to an orientation day at Thames High School, they said it was fun and exciting. On Friday we finished reading a fascinating novel by Ken Catran called "Smiling Jack" it was soooo interesting You've got to read it!!! We have had a great week and we hope you enjoy your weekend.

Floral Day and Calf Club

Every year at Matatoki School we have Floral Day and Calf Club. Floral day is the day before Calf Club where we spend the entire day making sand saucers, mini scenes, aqua jars and other craft projects. We put these on display in the class rooms and that night judges come and judge our art and craft projects. When we get to school the next morning we can look whether we got certificates or not. Then it is Calf Club! Calf Club is a great school and community day where students have spent many months raising and looking after either a calf, lamb or kid (a baby goat) and their are judges who judge the animals in many different categories. There is always loads of food and raffles and animals for everyone to look at. It is always a very busy but fun day!

Auckland Zoo Trip

On the fourth of November our school visited the Auckland Zoo. We all went on a bus and it took us one and a half hours to get there. When we got there we had morning tea then broke off into our groups and walked around the zoo. Our favourite animal was the Meerkats. It was a blast! Check out some of our photos!
