Aria's Year

This year has  been so much FUN! It all started off with swimming sports. Our house teams Kea, Weka and Tui were batling it of to win the House Sheild. Unfortaly like always Tui was trailing behind by quite alot. As the final resalts came out Tui was shocked to find they came 2nd. Now I geuss you want to know who won. Here it is, !Weka! Which means Kea lost. The next thing that happend in our year  was the Triathlon. As I told you before Tui  was trailing behind again! And off Weka won. Leaving Kea to 2nd place. Sadly Tui lost. The Worst thing about term 1 was all the tests!
Moving on to term 2. The perfect way to start a term is to go to a butterfly house. And thats exalacty what we did. As we entered  the butterfly room a wave of heat hit us. I looked at the temputer thermoter, it was 80 deggeres farenhight. There were so many butterflys and catterplys. I essplyed liked the big butterfly with blue under their wings. Next thing was our hole school disco. It was so much fun. Were in Term 3 already. We started off the term with Cross Countery along  the rail trail. Yay. Kea finaly won  putting Weka 2nd and Tui Last. Room Three  got to go on a fun day in Aluckland. The order of events was Ice scating then laser tag and last of all bumper cars.
Time for our last term, term 4. Everone is realy exicted becauce next week is camp. Were going to toter Springs. I can't wait. And thats the end of Aria's Year.

Room Three Update

Hi

It has been a while since we have updated our blog this term has been soo busy already. We can't believe that it is already week four! We started this term off super busy because we had floral day and Calf Club on the first Wednesday and Thursday. Floral day is where we all create sand saucers and mini scenes and they are judges in the afternoon and when we come to school on Thursday we can see what certificates we got. Thursday was Calf Club and it was no very nice weather at all which was a shame but we powered through and had a fun day!

On Thursday the 27th September Room Three had a fun day out in Auckland. We started off by going Ice Skating in Botany. We werent very good to start off with but we got much better as time went on. There was lots of people there training for a team championship competition so we got to see some pretty flash moves!! After that we went and had lunch at a park. Then we drove to Mt Wellington and went to Megazone and played Laser Tag and went on the Dodgem Cars. We all had a great time and it was a fun way to end the term :)

Holly's happy place

Snorkelling

The sun hits the water making a glittery path way as the boat rocks side to side under the tender waves.

I pull on my wet suit and dive in. The cool water splashes on to my face.

This is a happy place.

I look around a flash of colour zooms past my eyes.

I swim deeper my hair flows like ribboins in the water.

I glide throw the water with bubbles coming off my face.

This is a happy place.

I come out of the water and dry my face

And pop open a packet of chip and a bottle of lemonade.

The chips crunch in my mouth.

This is a happy place.

Now it’s time to go home.

I sit in the boat and look behind me

This is a happy place.

Matts Happy Place

 My Happy Place

The eels slowly slither in the water like snake. Dark sky above as the wind swishes by. The rough sounds of the eel getting reeled in.
This is a happy place.

I feel excited. Feeling a big tug. The eels are making ripples and eeling lines moving with the current.
This is a happy place.

Dad and I laughing and joking as we wait. Bait in a bucket. Nets in the water. Putting hooks and bait on the line.
This is a happy place.

Splashing and getting wet. Jumping over rocks to get to the perfect spot. Good places and bad places.
This is a happy place.

Dad and I laughing and having fun. Wanting these wonderful moments to last. Having fun catching eels.
This is a happy place.

Aria's Happy Place

Description: http://futurity.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/beach2.jpgBeach
The car halts and we all jump out
The adults prepare our picnic, as us kids run to the sea
Feeling the soft sand in-between our toes
The sound of laughter floods my ears
This is a happy place

I feel the gentle breeze against my tan silky face
The open wings of seagulls gliding by
Kites flying high in the sky
This is a happy place

We run up to our parents and sit down to get comfy
We grab our plates and clame what we want
The fizz of the lemonade bottle makes us giggle
We gobble up our food and sit down for a rest
This is a happy place

We fall back on our parents and say “Mummy I’m bored”
So they say “Why don’t you have a sand-castle competition”
We grab our buckets and shovels
We build excellent castles, and then yell out “I WON”
This is a happy place

We pack up our picnic and jump in the car
Wanting these wonderful moments to last
We jump in the car and drive away
This is a happy place

Pots and Clocks

War by Bryanna Lingley

Lest We Forget
Abandoned houses long and forgotten, scattered bricks memories lost and broken.
Blue birds cock their heads and sing, completely oblivious to the terrible things this day will bring.
Crystal tears dripping one by one as you cling desperately to your one and true love.
Dreams and prayers whispered in the dead of night, hoping you’ll see his face just one last time.
Everything that you had once known, torn apart, disappeared and fallen.
Forever waiting for good news or bad, numbly thinking if your unborn child will ever have a dad.
Grieve and sadness paints people’s faces, devastation and destruction destroying once happy places.
Hollering sirens high pitched and clear, sending people flowing down towards the cellar stairs.
In the night the earth vibrates, tumbles and ripples like a thousand snakes.
Jars of pity are stored in people’s minds, kept and preserved over this terrible time.
Kept secrets and denial leads people astray, as a distraught mother throws back her head and says “my son will come back! He will, he will, he will.” But deep down she must know, that her son will never again see the light of day.
Lullaby’s are sang softly to the whimpering child for the fear of succumbing to fatigue and to the awaiting nightmares that thrash and go wild.
Moments of their life flash in front of the soldier’s eyes as they slump against the muddy bank and think this is the way that I will die.
Numbness fills the little girls heart as she catches a glimpse at the back end of the horse drawn dead person cart.
Old, dried blood haunts the streets, and the unspoken concern as the first aid supply slowly depletes.
Poppies scatter all around, underneath the rows of white crosses that align that ground.
Ripped hearts and vacant eyes, parent and child held entwine.
Sorrow leeches into every crack and every wall, licks the pavements and soaks into people’s souls.
Trust will gain its limits… and even the strongest bonds will soon grow timid.

Poetry

Childhood is waking up in the morning and watching Hi5
Childhood is cuddling your blanket at night and watching a glitter lamp. Childhood is imagining that the backyard is a big jungle and playing kittens.
Childhood is putting training wheels on your brand new bike and making sand castles with your friends.
Childhood is thinking that sea anemones are going to bite your finger and watching Shortland Street with your Mum.
Childhood is having tea parties with your stuffed animals and going to sleep in the car.
Childhood finally ends when you start to grow up and when you no longer need a car seat.

By Holly

Childhood is waking up on early on Christmas day to open presents and crying over a scraped knee.
Childhood is dreaming of being an adult when you can finally beat-up your big brother.
Childhood is watching ‘Bob the Builder’ and punching your little brother over the TV remote.
Childhood is spelling words rong and fighting for no reason.
Childhood is dreaming of being an able to drive to drive and purposely chewing on family members.
Childhood finally ends, when you stop watching Telly Tubbies.
By Ethan

Child hood is soft toys and blankets you can’t part with.
Childhood is getting everything you want and playing games.
Childhood is not wanting to go to bed and imaginary friends.
Childhood is sticking your fingers into sea anemones and trying to pull your finger out again.
Childhood is needing a night light and thinking there is monsters under your bed.
Childhood is licking the bowl after Grandma does the baking and play dough.
Childhood finally ends when you no longer need a night light.
